Elderberry Jam Sandwich

Hey guys, sorry I went a bit quiet. There are a few reason I haven't blogged in almost 2 weeks. The main being my glass file. I had this amazing glass file I bought for $20, expensive right?!? But it was worth every cents. But I sat on it 2 months ago and it broke. Boohoo. So I bought a Cutex one for $16. Let me tell you, it is the shitty-est glass file ever.

Exhibit A:
Do you see the white lines at the top of the nail file? That where the grit has come off. Come off, you say? Isn't the glass file suppose to be cut gritty and that's why glass files are notorious for last long, you say? Yeah I'm so cut!
I can't file my nails with it. It's blunt too. didn't even last 2 months! So the shapes of my nails are way off. With a normal glass file, filing my nails perfectly. However, it taken me 5 separate try's to get them this shape. And because of that, I've lost quite a lot of length. Also both my middle fingers are bastards and broke on the side! GRRRRR!

Onto manicure! I have been experimenting with frankening for a few weeks now. And last night I wanted a dark purple jelly, because I don't have many jellies and I don't have any dark purple. So I'd like you to met Elderberry Jam.

It looks super dark in the bottle but one or two coats and it's this beautiful medium berry purple.

So I used 2 coats of Elderberry Jam to build opacity and then added a layer of OPI Teenage Dreams and then another layer of Elderberry Jam. I'm not sure why in this photo my pinky and ring finger look darker than the other two,  that's certainly not the case.

I love that you can still see the holographic effect of TD. It's still sparkles IRL. Lovvvvee!

Side note: Lippy Lucie nominated me for the Versatile Blogger award, which is really cool. It's nice to know people are interested in my nails and what I have to say, so thank you! You should check out her blog, she's got some great nail art happening over there.

Layering.

Today I have this amazing layering mani. I haven't use my Kleancolor Chunky Holo too much because I was disappointed when I got them, also they smell rank! I LOVVEEE them in the bottles though, especially Bluebell and Purple. But of course they're the sheerest polishes ever and then they all look the same when layered. Boohoo. So I am really happy with this manicure because it looks better than just layering over a Chunky Holo.

This is Essence Black is Back, which is the blackest black ever. A one coater. My saviour. Then I added Chunky Holo Purple, then Ozotic 504 and another coat of Chunky Holo Purple.

I can't tell you much I adore mani. It is dimensional and just colours everywhere.

You can really see the multichrome of Ozotic 504and then the multichrome of Chunky Holo Purple. The only thing I didn't like about this manicure was amount of layers I had. A nail strengthener, a base coat 2 coats of Black is Back, 1 coat of Chunky Holo Purple, 1 coat of 504, 1 coat Chunky Holo Purple, and then 2 coats of Seche Vite. 9 coats! YUCKKK! But looks so pretty!

A Royal Multichrome.

I never understood the hype that Revlon Royal held. In photo's just wasn't my thing, but I was in Priceline (Aussie verison of Sally's) the other day and I saw it and thought why not! And oh my god, do I love it. It's super squishy and lovely. As as I type, I realise this I should have taken photos of it by itself. However I SLAPPED on some Ozotic 506 aka Reef. Ahh Ozotic multichromes. I am in love you. I want to take you out to dinner, give you my jacket when you are cold and take you home and have my way with you. LETS LOOK!

These photos were taken in the sun. I feel that 506 gives a gorgeous purple shimmer to Royal

And then you angle your nails and see a golden red, in true Ozotic style.

The next few photos were taken in the shade (or under my pergola).

Seriously look at that shift. AWW MY GOD! I love this combination. I am getting bored of layering multichromes over black, maybe because my black polishes are crap, so this is nice little change for me!

Ozotic and Hits Mish Mash

Well hello. I bought a few Ozotics the other day and in anticipation of it's arrival I decided to try my own Mish Mash with Ozotic 505 aka Eclipse and HITS Hefesto. Can I just say how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE Hefesto, but it's such a teeny tiny bottle and the sun hasn't been out much that this is only the third time I've worn it. That's strange for a gem like this. This what Ozotic 532 would look like.

I shouldn't have wore black underwear. For some reason I can't handle black polish. It's so messy. I use Orly Galaxy. I think next time I will use OPI Road House Blues or OPI Ink. I need to get a good black  creme polish. I hear a-england's Camelot is gold!

Soundwave and Mermaids Scales.

Hey guys, this is going to be big post today because I am so bored and want to make this as long as possible to pass my boredom.

On Friday I went to Soundwave Festival. For those you who don't know, Soundwave is a giant metal, rock and punk festival that happens every year in all the major cities of Oz. I love it. I go every year. It's always heaps of fun and a great way to find out about awesome international bands. And I found a gem this year. They are called Kverlertak, a Norwegian band. They are a cool mix of rock and roll, punk and black metal. They really wail. They sing in Norwegian as well so I have no idea what they are saying, but apparently they sing lots about the Norse gods. I saw ton of other bands too: A Day To Remember, always good, letlive, Four Year Strong, Your Demise, Limp Bizikit who were surprisingly good, and System of a Down. I cannot tell you how amazing SOAD are as a live band. They're vocals are insane. It was great day and to mark it special I did a little skittle mani. Unfortunately I only took shitty quality photos of it, so I am sorry for that but I'm sure you get the idea.

I used nine colours and mixed colours for two nails (The green ones because I do't have much green). I also toped it off with Lynnderella Connect the Dots. T'was great, when I put my hand in the air in the mosh, the people behind me would get a face full of colour!

Anywho, onto the real reason I have this blog. I've had this idea for a while now. Ever since I saw Glitta Gloves post, I have wanted to recreate it somehow.  This is one coat of Orly Lucky Duck followed by a coat of Color Club Holiday Splendor and a coat of Kleancolor Chucky Holo Bluebell.

The Chucky Holo flakies are very subtle in these photo but they were more predominate IRL. And unfortunately, we have't had a sunny day since Friday so I wasn't able to take photos with the holo goodness that Holiday Splendor provides.
But it's nice a glow-y, right!?

I love how it has sort of a golden glow. To me, this manicure reminds me of a sunset reflecting on the waters of a tropical island.

Am I right? Aww man I so wanna go to Bora Bora now!
